Texas Hunter Education was designed to help manage and conserve the natural resources of Texas. It provides hunting, and other outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations and striving to continue the hunting heritage worldwide. Hunter education helps develop safe, responsible, knowledgeable and involved hunters. Every hunter (including out-of-state hunters) born on or after Sept. 2, 1971, must successfully complete a Hunter Education training course, or be accompanied while hunting.

  • Minimum age of 9 years old

Texas certification is honored by all 50 states and most countries that require hunter education. You must carry proof of certification or deferral on your person while hunting, along with your license and picture ID. Proof of certification is NOT required to purchase a license.
