San Antonio | Precision Rifle Basic
Precision Rifle Basic is a one-day course conducted at the MRRA Off-Site Training Facility. Shooters will meet at the Off-Site Training Facility on the day of the course.
Course instruction will focus on the fundamentals of precision rifle marksmanship, effects of weather, optics familiarization, and data collection. Live-Fire will take place on the 1,000 yard range, which includes steel targets set at 100 yard increments, and a covered and shaded concrete firing line. Testimonials
“We recently relocated back to Texas and settled in the Boerne area.
One of my primary objectives since I recently just retired was to get back into shooting specifically centered around long range targets.
Several different people mentioned the team at Mission Ridge so I decided to go visit, understand their training, especially as it related to my objective and set up accordingly.
I am not the type of person who does many reviews but felt it necessary to do one on that day.
I met with Rob Mills and Gerard Nickel at the Mission Ridge – Guajillo Ranch where training and shooting would occur.
I was an avid shooter but some time has passed and the guys accomplished exactly what I was trying to do reviewing primary fundamentals, scope, ballistics. Everything they talked about was easy to understand. You know how some training applications talk a different language- these guys explained all in detail that gave me good perspective so I could apply on range training.
We then proceeded to the range which is set up in 100 yard increments out to a 1000 yards. All clean, well manicured.
We first proceeded to chrono the load I was shooting to be able to enter my exact data into a ballistic program. The guys helped me set up the program, enter all details about my rifle, my scope, my ammo to have good benchmark of data set for my gun.
Zero, was then confirmed and from there we shot at each 100 yard increment out to 1000 yards. If you have never shot out to that distance, must say you will have a ???? smile from ear to ear when you hear that steel ring at each increment and especially at 1000! WOW.
The experience was absolutely first class with my intent to take another course to further my training.
I want to thank Rob and Gerard for a very informative and fun day doing what I consider my (golf) and the passion they have to meet your objectives and expectations. Thanks guys.”

“I was very satisfied with the class and facilities (what an incredibly beautiful ranch), it exceeded my expectations and honestly was a bargain for the price. Rob is patient, knowledgeable and was able to help me dial my rifle into exactly the range that I need to be shooting” -Richard R.
“I really had an enjoyable time at the range on Saturday. I had a good time and I really learned a lot. I really appreciate all the time and effort Mission Ridge and the instructors took to prepare the course and the range activities. Initially I was a little hesitant because I thought this would be a little more advanced for me at this time but the instructors and staff removed any doubt. They created a great learning environment and made me feel at ease. Everything went off without a hitch. I have taken courses with Rob before and I really learned a lot from him. It is always enjoyable to learn from his techniques and experiences. Very good and patient instructor. I was glad to have his time on this range day. This was my first time with Gerard as my spotter and I learned a lot from him as well. He was very knowledgeable and willing to pass on all the technique I needed for a successful engagement at 1000 yards. I really liked that he took the time and allowed me to use both my rifles. Good to know that I was able to get both rifles to 1k. All the instructors on the range that day were a pleasure to work with and the presented themselves well.” -Steve B.
“I took the long range precision rifle course. Ran by Rob Mills. First time shooting Precision Rifle and I got all the way to 1000 yards. The course was very informative and practical. My instructor Ty, was full of knowledge and experience and guided me the whole time. All the instructors awesome, just a great time on a beautiful piece of property. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get into long range shooting or even experienced shooter looking to fine tune their ability. Thanks again Rob and Mission Ridge. Plus the range on NW military is an amazing facility, with a great selection of guns to purchase and rent.”
