The 30-hour course is designed to certify first responders (who are Texas LTC holders) desiring to carry a handgun while on duty. Classroom and field instructions and proficiency demonstrations are in accordance with Texas House Bill 1069.
Any person with a Texas License to Carry can register and take the course. Each student will receive the Texas DPS Form LTC-103 Training Certificate upon completion of the course which will be submitted to the state by the student. First Responders eligible for the DPS Certification will also submit additional paperwork to the DPS for final certification based on their status. The instructors, nor Mission Ridge Range and Academy, are responsible for verifying applicable First Responder status or verifying First Responder employment.
A pre-proficiency demonstration will be administered to each student on the first day. Students must score a minimum of 90% on the proficiency demonstration to remain in the course. A post-exam will be administered to each student on the third day and students must score a minimum of 90% to pass the course.
